Pick of the Day: 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10

For whenever there’s a need to haul butt and haul cargo at the same time

-

The Pick of the Day is a low-mileage 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 pickup truck (click on the link to see the ad) listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Choctaw, Oklahoma.

The heart of this truck is a 500-horsepower Dodge Viper supercar engine, linked to a Tremec T-56 6-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 rear end.

Add in a Flame Red paint job and a performance exhaust system and the words “mean machine” come to mind.

Oh, and best of all, the odometer shows only 20,750 miles.

The listing reads, “Born on 04/04/2005.  Puts a smile on your face every time you drive it.”  The seller says that this special truck conveys a cosmetic condition expected for its low-mileage — having been garage-kept and driven only 4,000 miles over the last seven years.  “Kept in a climate-controlled environment.  Non-smoker,” the write-up states.

The SRT-10 pickup was produced between 2004 and 2006 on the Dodge Ram 1500 platform.  Engineering was carried out by DaimlerChrysler’s Performance Vehicle Operations division and production included both regular cab and quad cab body styles.  This example comes as the former, which the seller says lends itself to easier parking and a tighter turning radius.

Under the bulging hood, grunt comes from a monstrous Viper-derived 8.3-liter V10 with a cast aluminum cylinder block, and power is fed to meaty 305-series tires on 22-inch chrome-finished wheels at the rear through a floor-shifted six-speed manual.

In order to optimize weight and balance on a high-profile vehicle such as the Ram, the suspension features a lowered ride height, Bilstein shock absorbers, and performance-tuned springs.  Exterior aero treatment helps lower the coefficient of drag on this otherwise very blocky vehicle design.

While largely stock in configuration, this well-kept SRT-10 has a few custom tweaks – specifically with the exhaust system.  Added equipment includes Billy Boat mid-pipes and a Billy Boat cat-back exhaust with mufflers.

The stainless-steel oil cooler lines have been replaced and a spray-in bed liner has been added.  Otherwise, this truck could be described as a collector-grade original.

How often do you see these on the road?” the seller asks.  “Even today, it’s still an attention-getter everywhere I drive it.”  This muscle truck will run circles around most of the other cargo-haulers in the local hardware store parking lot:  Zero to sixty comes in just 4.9 seconds.

The seller is asking $37,000 or best offer for this Viper-powered pickup.
