The Columbia Elections Commission announced the results of the 2025-26 Columbia College Student Council and the Engineering Student Council elections in a Monday email to the University. Sam Cano Cabrera, CC ’26, and Janie Zhang, SEAS ’26, will serve as CCSC and ESC student body presidents, respectively.

Cano Cabrera is currently the CCSC vice president for finance, and Zhang is currently the ESC vice president for policy.

The individuals elected to the CCSC and ESC executive board were all members of the Crown Council and Boat Baddies parties, respectively. All newly elected members of the CCSC executive board ran unopposed with the exception of Maraki Tamrat, CC ’27, who will serve as the next vice president for communications. All members of the ESC executive board ran against members of the SEAS Tomorrow party.

The elections commission received 16 alleged rules violations, 15 of which it dismissed. It found a “minor violation” for one candidate, Mariam Elmais, CC ’28, for violating article 4 section 1.V, which states that candidates may not endorse other candidates who are not in their parties. A minor violation results in a 10 percent vote deduction.
